At June’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, we were treated to a trailer for Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, the next big game from Team Ninja that’s also launching on Game Pass. Now, we’ve gotten word that Wo Long Fallen Dynasty will have a free playable demo out before the game launches next year.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty is a collaboration between Team Ninja producers Fumihiko Yasuda (Nioh) and Masaaki Yamagiwa (Bloodborne), so you can expect this new game to have the distinct “Soulslike” feel, similar to how Bloodborne and Nioh was given the pedigree of their creatives.
The key difference however is that the setting takes place in feudal China where we follow a nameless militia soldier who is fighting for their survival in a demon-infested dark fantasy version of the late Han Dynasty; for those who aren’t well versed in their ancient chinese history, that was around 947 to 951 in the real world.
Outside of the demo, Team Ninja has been pretty tight lipped about Wo Long Fallen Dynasty since the reveal at Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, but a tweet from the game’s official account has revealed a good bit of information about what we can expect from the game in the future as well as the hint of a “gameplay trial in the near future.”
Additionally, Team Ninja has confirmed that the game will have a new morale system, a character creator, Warlords that were famous from the Three Kingdoms, Chinese mythology and martial arts, as well as online multiplayer. Some of these were expected but getting confirmation is better than not knowing.
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty will be available on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s set for a released within early 2023 and will be launching on Game Pass.
