Xbox One users beware, if you buy the Physical Standard Edition of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands you don’t get an upgrade for Xbox Series X.
Gearbox’s newest game is just around the corner and I’m sure a lot of people are excited to go adventuring with Tina. But before you go ahead and get yourself a copy, something on the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ FAQ page caught our attention and we think everyone should be informed about it.
Q: If I buy a physical version of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands for Xbox One, will it be compatible with my new-gen console?
A: A physical Xbox One game disc of the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Standard Edition will play on Xbox Series X but it cannot be upgraded to the Xbox Series X version of the game and will not be optimized for Xbox Series X. Physical discs of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Next-Level Edition and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Chaotic Great Edition will work on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X (with optimized performance on Xbox Series X).
See, the problem here is that the upgrade path for physical Xbox One Standard Editions of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is unclear. Here’re some fast facts to clear things up a bit.
It cannot be upgraded to the Xbox Series X version of the game.
It will play on your Xbox Series X through backwards compatibility, but…
It cannot be optimized for the Xbox Series X.
Only the “Physical Xbox One Standard Edition” of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has this problem.
The Next Level Edition and Chaotic Great Edition will ensure that you can play on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with the best optimization for each console.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Standard Edition This is just the base game with no inclusions, it can be purchased digitally or as a physical disk.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Next Level Edition The Next Level Edition lets you play on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s optimized for the Xbox Series X|S console but can still work on the Xbox One too. It also comes with the Dragon Lord Pack, it’s bonus content that has some cool stuff in it to make adventuring feel badass, if not easier.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Chaotic Great Edition The Chaotic Great edition features everything from the Next Level Edition with the inclusion of the Season Pass, which promises four future content drops with “fantastical boss fights” and “whimsical challenges.” The Season Pass is also available for purchase after launch. The Chaotic Great Edition also comes with The Butt Stallion Pack of cosmetics.
So if you’re looking to get Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands with the intention of upgrading if and when you pick up a new gen Xbox, just make sure to avoid picking up the “Physical Xbox One Standard Edition” of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be available on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S when it launches March 25, 2022.
