We’re halfway through October and things are definitely getting spooky especially with these great horror games on Xbox Game Pass to haunt all the days leading up to Halloween! Feel that chill in the air, because these are the spookiest games on Xbox Game Pass.

The feeling of absolute dread as you walk on a dark hallway is chillingly well recreated in the game Visage, by SadSquare Studio. It plays closely to how the P.T. does and looks to be a spiritual successor. I’d suggest not playing it in a room with the lights off, but by all means ignore my suggestion for maximum spook!

Alien: Isolation

If the supernatural isn’t your cup of tea and you’re more of a sci-fi person, Alien: Isolation, by Creative Assembly, does an impressive job at recreating the feeling of being within the critically acclaimed Alien movie by Ridley Scott. Playing as Amanda Ripley, in a first person perspective, explore a space station completing objectives while trying to sneak, survive and outsmart a Xenomorph! Are you sure it’s safe to go out of the vents yet?

A Plague Tale: Innocence

A Plague Tale: Innocence upgrades guide

For the folks who have musophobia, it might be best to skip this part lest you start braving your fears! A Plague Tale: Innocence, by Asobo Studio, is a beautifully crafted game with survival puzzles where you try to avoid a rat plague or use the rats as way to get past enemies. The game received a free enhancement update earlier this year and a sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, is set for next year and will also be launching on Xbox Game Pass.

Dead by Daylight

There’s strength in numbers, but in this case your friends might not be enought to save you. Dead by Daylight, by Behaviour Interactive, is a multiplayer horror game where four surivors try to evade and escape an area that’s being patrolled by a killer. The catch is that the killer is also a player! New popular killers have been added to the game as well including Leatherface, Freddy Kruger and Pyramid Head! You can kill or be killed for just the price of a Game Pass sub!

Resident Evil 7

Oh, do you not like disgusting stuff? Well, too bad! Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 is a first person survival game that moves away from previous action oriented games in the franchise. You play as Ethan Winters in search of his wife at a derelict Louisiana house. You won’t find a lot of zombies here, but you will find something worse! A sequel, Resident Evil: Village, was released earlier this year, but isn’t on Game Pass.

The Evil Within 2

A third person survival horror game by Tango Gameworks, The Evil Within 2 puts Sebastian Castellanos within nightmarish situations where he needs to fight and survive disfigured enemies, traps and bosses alike. The atmosphere of the darkly lit areas impose a sense of dread as you slowly explore this haunted setting. Do you dare investigate this madhouse? If you liked the Resident Evil franchise but are looking for something different, both the first and second Evil Within games are available on Game Pass.

The Dark Pictures Anthology

The Dark Pictures Anthology simulates the experience of watching an old horror movie except now I’m the one being yelled at by myself to not go there and “Just keep running!” The first installment, Man of Medan, is available on Game Pass. The series was developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind the sleeper hit Until Dawn on PlayStation. The other installment, Little Hope isn’t on Game Pass, while the next one, House of Ashes, drops this week into the Microsoft Store.

Now then all those horror games on Game Pass should fill your nights with screams and terror. I haven’t finished every single one of these games but now’s a good time as any! I’ve been playing them in a well lit room with a snuggie just to be safe! With my cats too, so I can protect them in case something happens, right?
