A new Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer dropped as part of DC Fandome today. Titled “Ticking,” it shows off four members of the Suicide Squad — Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark and Captain Boomerang — as well as our first look of various “corrupted” members of the Justice League, some moments with Amanda Waller and a sadistic gag at Penguin’s expense.
All of this is set to the rocking jams of The Hives’ “Tick Tick Boom,” which feels appropriate given the violent irreverence that comes with the territory of a Suicide Squad story. Unfortunately, the trailer is all cutscenes, no gameplay, which is disappointing for a game that’s been in development for at least five years now and is set to arrive on PC, Xbox Series X|S next year.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be the first game from British developer Rocksteady Studios since they wrapped up their critically and commercially successful Batman: Arkham series. The setup? Amanda Waller has stuck bombs in the heads of the most notorious criminals and has tasked them, nay, forced them to take on the Justice League. You know, the usual Suicide Squad stuff.
Rocksteady Studios director Sefton Hill confirmed last year — at DC Fandome also — that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the same continuity as the Arkham games, which means story threads from those games may continue into it. It’s set in an open-world Metropolis and can play as a single-player experience or as a co-op experience featuring up to four players.
It’ll be interesting to see the co-op gameplay of Suicide Squad in action, so hopefully we’ll get another trailer sooner than later in the weeks riding the promotional and marketing wave of DC Fandome. Once again, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is slated to release in 2022 for PC and for current gen consoles like the Xbox Series X|S.
