Riot Games is coming to Game Pass. That’s just one of the many big news coming out of the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase.
Riot Games’ own President of Games, Marc Merril made the announcement at the Showcase saying, “For over a decade players have created a thriving culture of competition and creativity around our games. From clutch plays with friends, to unforgettable moments in esports, to amazing creations that have blown our minds. Our community has continually taken Riot Games to new heights.”
“Today, we’re proud to invite the Xbox community into that world,” Merril added before making the announcement that every major release from the California-based publisher and developer will be coming to the Game Pass subscription service. That includes League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics and Valorant.
Of courses, it begs the question why Riot Games’ major titles even need to come to Game Pass if they were already free-to-play to begin with. Well, the biggest selling point is that Riot Games will cut out a lot of the grind from these games for players on Game Pass.
That’s because subscribers of Game Pass will unlock every Champion in League and Wild Rift, every Agent from Valorant, select cards in Legends of Runeterra and Little Legends in Teamfight Tactics. That means you can start your journey on these games while having access to more options.
You won’t be limited in your Agent selection in Valorant, or in your choice of Champion in both League games. You can get started picking the Champions that best complement your friends who may already be playing. Or you know, just play Teemo right away, because let’s be real, Teemo beats everyone.
Between EXP boosts, additional bonuses and reduced low-quality time, Game Pass subscribers cut out some of the tedium that only premium players are able to bypass. The Champions in League of Legends as well as the Agents from Valorant take a lot of hours just to unlock and any way to speed that up is a good way to keep people playing. League of Legends has over a hundred champions to choose from, and unlocked champions are a welcome boon for those starting out.
All of the above mentioned Riot Games titles will come to Game Pass in 2023.
