Miasma Chronicles is a new RPG adventure from the makers of Mutant Year Zero

A new RPG called Miasma Chronicles was presented at the recent 505 Games Showcase, and is being made by The Bearded Ladies. The Swedish developers made Mutant Year Zero Road to Eden, the apocalyptic strategy adventure based on the tabletop RPG of the same name that features a wisecracking duck and a tough talking boar in XCOM-like action.

Says 505 Games, “a beautifully crafted tactical adventure you won’t forget.” Like Mutant Year Zero, Miasma Chronicles is a tactical RPG set in the “not-too-distant future” where America has been torn apart by a savage force known only as the Miasma.”

Elvis, our protagonist, is a young man that was brought into the mining town of Sedentary as a baby. He was left by his mother in the care of a robotic older “brother” and was conveniently given a mysterious glove that allows him to control the Miasma. The device will undoubtedly be useful in their adventures out in the wasteland and should help with their search for answers that could “change the course of human history forever.”

Furthermore, the game is touted to have real-time exploration where gameplay meets tactical, turn-based combat with RPG elements, rich beautiful environment with outlandish characters, upgradable weapons and abilities that will give your heroes the edge in combat and an engaging story in which you can learn the truth behind the Miasma.

Other than the announcement trailer and the brief description of the game, we don’t know much about how exactly the game will play out. It could play similarly to how Mutant Year Zero played, but at the moment, that’s just speculation. The Miasma Chronicles is expected to be released sometime in 2023, for PC and new generation consoles such as the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
