Rockstar to release a new edition of Max Payne 3 soundtrack

It’s been a decade since Max Payne 3 was released back in 15th of May, 2012 and to celebrate it’s 10-year anniversary, Rockstar Games is releasing a new version of the iconic soundtrack coming later this year to digital streaming platforms and limited edition vinyl.

Max Payne 3 – The Official Soundtrack (Anniversary Edition) brings back L.A. noise band HEALTH and will also include previously unreleased tracks from the game. Rockstar describes the soundtrack as follows:

“Delivering a dark and driving industrial soundscape reflective of Max’s blurred and frayed mental state and the heavy atmosphere of the Max Payne series, HEALTH’s score for Max Payne 3 pushed their signature melancholy noise rock sound in new directions, with the track “TEARS” becoming a staple in the band’s captivating live shows.”

TEARS is the band’s most acclaimed song from the game that plays in the final level, a lengthy shootout throughout multiple sections of an airport. The track ties together a lot of the themes in the trilogy. The song was a hit and the band still plays it to this day at their live shows. The band reflected on the success of the game as well as their music with the help of Rockstar’s shooter:

“When we began work on the Max Payne 3 score we could not have predicted the momentous effect it would have on the trajectory of our band and the music we make,” said HEALTH. “Now, 10 years on, we are still as proud as ever to be part of the story.”

“Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same,” said Remedy CEO, Tero Virtala. “We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.”

Fans can look forward to modern versions of these games in the next couple of years. While no major details, release windows or exclusivity deals have been mentioned, it is quite intriguing to know that Max Payne still has a place in gaming and the future of gamers.
