At Summer Game Fest, a release date trailer confirmed that Marvel’s Midnight Suns is coming this year. Marvel’s Midnight Suns is the turn-based strategy game from Firaxis Games (XCOM 2, Sid Meier’s Civilization 6) that pits some of the most famous heroes of the Marvel Universe against a supernatural threat that prophesizes the end of the world.
After being delayed from its original release date of March 2022, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is now scheduled for launch on October 7, 2022 for all current generation consoles such as Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Creative director Jake Solomon heads the project, which last we checked, features card-based gameplay and a central hub known as The Abbey where characters can gear up, train and interact.

The game also casts you as an original, customizable protagonist known only as “The Hunter,” a 300 year old warrior – whose gender can be chosen from male or female. Their arch-nemesis is Lilith, the Mother of all Demons. You can form relationships with the various members of the Midnight Suns but there are no romances, so don’t even think about knocking boots with Wolverine.
The new trailer confirmed the appearance of rumored characters such as Spider-Man, Venom and Scarlet Witch being added to a roster that also includes Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, Blade, Nico Minoru, Magik and more. Who knows what other characters will be revealed in the months to come or as post-launch additions.
“We know fans have been eager to see what’s coming next for Marvel’s Midnight Suns,” said Jake Solomon, Creative Director at Firaxis Games. “We’re honored by the opportunity to introduce so many new heroes and villains to Marvel fans and can’t wait for tactics players to discover the joys of fighting like a Super Hero in Marvel’s Midnight Suns!”
