Marvel and Fortnite are teaming up for a crossover comic series

Marvel Entertainment has announced a collaboration with Epic Games and Fortnite in a new five-part crossover comic book series.

Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War brings some of Marvel’s greatest heroes such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man and Shuri to Fortnite Island, whose denizens are locked in what seems to be a never-ending war. But a crystallized fragment of the Zero Point that was cast into the Marvel Universe may have the potential to turn the tide.

Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War is written by Marvel veteran Christos Gage (Spider-Verse, Avengers Academy) and Epic Games’ Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard. The comic’s interiors will be provided by Sergio Davila (Captain Marvel) with covers by Leinil Francis Yu, who illustrated Ta-Nehisi Coates’ run on Captain America in 2018 and an epic year-long run on New Avengers in 2007.

The series follows on the events of 2020’s Fortnite X Marvel – Nexus War: Thor. Marvel Comics editor Alanna Smith said in a statement that, “At its heart, the series is an adventure story, with characters from both universes coming together to go on a treasure hunt into the deepest, darkest depths of the Marvel Universe.”

“Donald Mustard and Christos Gage have such a deep love for both Fortnite and Marvel, and Sergio Davíla is turning in some absolutely unreal pages. Having the amazing Leinil Francis Yu on main covers and a killer lineup of Marvel artists on variants has been a real gift as well. This is going to be the ultimate team-up, where the best of both Fortnite and Marvel are represented.”

Fans of both the comics and the game will be rewarded with in-game digital cosmetic items in Fortnite that are unlockable from a redeemable code on each first print issue. Those who miss out on the comic will still be able to get these cosmetics when they are put up for purchase on Fortnite’s in-game item shop. If you are a subscriber or Marvel Unlimited, you can also get additional rewards.

“For a limited time, paid subscribers with a registered account that read all five issues will unlock a code for an additional cosmetic in Fortnite! The five issues of FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR will be available on the app at the release of the final issue in stores.”

The first issue of Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War arrives in June wherever comic books are sold.
