The much awaited Freelancer mode for Hitman 3 has been delayed to 2023 with a soft launch date of January 26th. Information came from IO Interactive’s blog in which they’ve also included a few more bits of information regarding the upcoming rogue-like single player mode.

Hitman 3’s much awaited new Freelancer mode has been delayed to the first month of 2023 with a soft launch date of January 26th. Information came from IO Interactive’s blog in which they’ve also included a few more bits of information regarding the upcoming rogue-like single player mode.

Freelancer mode was originally going to be released in spring of 2022. It was unfortunately delayed to the second half of 2022 and then another delay pushed it back further to the first month of 2023. Freelancer mode will feature roguelike elements in a single-player setting where players would then be allowed to customize their safehouse as an added bonus in the new game mode.

Not to worry though, IO Interactive is planning on selecting a few Hitman 3 players on Steam for their “Closed Technical Test” for the new game mode which will allow them to stress test the new game mode and work out the kinks as they prepare for launch when they’re ready.

“The Closed Technical Test is all about putting our servers under stress to prepare for launch. We also want to get an early idea of player behaviour and do some economy / XP balancing in a real-life scenario on a big scale. These are the final checkboxes we need to tick off before we launch.”

Aside from news about the technical test, you can look forward to more information about the Road to Freelancer blog that’s coming out on the 27th of October. Other than that, you can expect the technical test to start in November.  Freelancer Mode is once again set to be released on the 26th of January 2023, and players who already own Hitman 3 will be able to play the new game mode as a free update.
