Halo Infinite gets first multiplayer event in Fracture: Tenrai

Halo Infinite has its first multiplayer event, the samurai-themed Fracture: Tenrai just dropped and it gives us a look into an alternate version of the Halo universe.

Fracture: Tenrai features a new Fiesta game mode with randomized weapons, and adds a boatload of samurai-themed cosmetic armor customizations available to Halo Infinite. Fracture: Tenrai offers a vision of 343 warring clans clad in divine arms and armor of an alternate Earth suddenly brought together to fight the invading glass dragons of the Covenant.

The highlight of Tenrai’s gameplay additions to the multiplayer formula is a time-limited event playlist of Fiesta Slayer maps. Players drop into Slayer skirmishes with a random assortment of weapons and armor abilities, resulting in particularly wild battles with a smorgasbord of weapons in your hands and scattered around as salvage on the field.

The first few seconds of a Fiesta fight can turn in a bewildering flurry of rockets, skewer bolts, and sniper rounds whizzing through the air, and the action doesn’t stop, as each spawn resets the weapons you’re carrying into the field. No weapon or item pickups this time around, so the only way you’re going to get new guns or grenades is to salvage them from a fallen friend or foe.

Players can earn the time-limited Tenrai event cosmetics by completing challenges over the course of the event, whether in Tenrai’s Fiesta Slayer playlist or in the many other game modes. Tenrai customization items include nameplate backgrounds and badges, as well as a fairly early unlock for the samurai-styled Yoroi armor set. There are also a number of Tenrai customizations that you can purchase in the in-game store, such as the teal Shinobi Wraps weapon skin and the Chonmage armor set (complete with a badass victory screen stance).

Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai

Fracture: Tenrai will last for a week from November 23rd to November 29th, and while the event is time-limited, an official announcement from 343 notes that Tenrai will cycle back into Halo Infinite six more times during Season 1 with the next rotation on January 4th to January 10th. On each cycle, the free Fracture: Tenrai battle pass will grant 7 weekly challenges to unlock Tenrai’s collectibles. The Yoroi armor set is unlocked at Level 5, though if you’re a completionist, you will need multiple cycles of the Fracture event complete the battle pass.

Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode is free to play, and available on Xbox One, Series X and S, and on PC via Steam or the Microsoft Store.
