Ghostbusters game coming from Friday the 13th devs

A new Ghostbusters game has been announced by developers Illfonic, the makers of 2017’s Friday the 13th and 2020’s Predator Hunting Grounds.

Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed is an asymmetrical multiplayer game based on the iconic supernatural comedy series. The announcement trailer wastes no time, greeting us with the deep voice of Winston Zeddemore, reprised by Ernie Hudson, as he reveals that you and your friends will make up the next generation of Ghostbusters.

Strap on your Proton Pack and keep your PKE Meter handy because you and three other friends are going Ghostbusting! The game looks to have all the iconic Ghostbusters equipment too, like the Ghost Trap, the Particle Thrower and even the beloved 1959 Cadillac Ecto-1 with its iconic Ghostbusters siren.

In addition to Hudson, Dan Aykroyd returns to reprise his role as Raymond Stantz, former Ghostbuster turned occult shop proprietor. He turns his attention to players who are looking to learn more about the nature of these ghosts, how to deal with them and maybe even become a ghost in these Ghostbusting adventures.

The game lets you play as a Ghost and lets you cause a considerable amount of havoc. Being a Ghost gives you quite the skill set with flight, intangibility, and possessing inanimate objects like a Poltergeist. If those Ghostbusters come too close though, you can hit them with the slime to summon a few minions and drench them in ectoplasm.

While the game is marketed as a multiplayer experience, AI companions will be available for those looking to play the game solo or are lacking a crew member to play with. So whether you’ve got a full team of Ghostbusters or are going at it alone, you’ll have friends to help you out either way.

We’ll have to wait until late 2022 whether Ghostbusting will make us feel good, which is when Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed releases for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
