Ghost Recon: Breakpoint’s Operation Motherland adds conquest mode

Operation Motherland is the next update to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint that adds a new game mode and it’s coming next week.

Operation Motherland is set after the original mission of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and sees countries looking to take advantage of the powerful tech on the island of Auroa launching attacks to seize control. Karen Bowman, an old friend of the Ghosts, has tasked the Ghosts with helping the Outcasts eliminate threats throughout the island to secure Auroa.

Added to the game is Conquest Mode, an alternate game mode separate from story mode, where the main goal is to liberate the region of Auroa from the Sentinels, Wolves and a new returning faction, the Bodarks. You will encounter five new enemy archetypes that will act as lieutenants within a territory that will need to be eliminated.

If you’re familiar with Tom Clancy’s The Division, then you’d be familiar with some of the new archetypes”

Troopers are your standard military rifleman. Dreadnoughts are armored targets that shoot rocket launchers at you from a distance. Oppressors are also heavily armored, but they rush down to you with an SMG. Tacticians will continuously call out reinforcements in the area to overwhelm you. Seekers are long range combatants that use an Optical Camouflage.

Yes, Optical Camo is back with its own upgrades and you’ll also be able to unlock it for your use as well on Conquest Mode. Once unlocked, it’ll be available for use on Story Mode.

Liberating Auroa won’t be an easy task but you will have your team and the Outcasts for help. Each area you liberate will have an impact to the world dynamic, such as deactivating drone swarms, reducing enemy presence or getting Outcast patrols.

The Operation Motherland update also increases the game’s level cap from level 30 to level 99. A new weapon mastery system where you can use skill points to improve weapon class characteristics on selected weapon categories. New weapons have been added, such as the ACR, and the Russian made SR-1. Maria’s shop will be also updated with new weapons, customization options and vehicle skins.

Lastly, the update will include free 20th anniversary skins of past Ghost Recon character skins such as Alicia Diaz from Ghost Recon 2, John Kozak from Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Scott Mitchell from Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.

The update to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a pleasant surprise for players. In other Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon news, a good friend of mine wrote about Ghost Recon: Frontline. Yes, it’s another battle royale game.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint launched way back in 2019 and is available on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One.
