For Honor on Game Pass is June’s opening strike

For Honor on Game Pass

For Honor on Game Pass kicks off an exciting month for the subscription service. Not only does Darkest Dungeon and Backbone get added to the library, but there’s a strong possibility that announcements like Microsoft Flight Simulator for console will be made at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on June 13. My wild hope is that Phil Spencer personally delivers the news that Psychonauts has arrived.

Launched in February 2017, For Honor is built on a high concept premise that pits Knights, Vikings and Samurai against one another in a fight against survival. Though historically improbable, there’s a neat bit of world building and supernatural lore that makes this possible. Another faction, the Wu Lin were later added with 2018’s Marching Fire expansion.

I’ll definitely be giving For Honor a whirl this week, as it’s one of many games I’ve played on PC that felt incredibly visceral but failed to make time for. I can only imagine that with the power of Xbox Series X|S, it can only run like a dream, especially thanks to Xbox One X enhancements made at the end of its first year. Would it be too much for to say, “Please sir, I want some FPS Boost?”

So far, the other games joining Game Pass this month include Backbone, the pixel noir mystery starring a raccoon detective on June 8, and Darkest Dungeon, the hit 2015 indie turn-based RPG that’s basically a dark gothic roguelike on June 10. Wild at Heart, a puzzle and secrets adventure fantasy set where the wild things are is already on Game Pass but is now playable via cloud devices that support the Pass.

To make room for the rest of the month’s Game Pass additions — which usually includes a few unannounced stealth drops — other titles will be leaving the service, as always. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Night Call, Observation, West of Dead, Wizard of Legend will all be packing their bags to leave on June 15.

Guess it’s time for me to take to the skies, investigate some noir crimes, solve a space mystery and spell-sling through several dungeons in under two weeks. Let my eyes bleed before I get started on For Honor on Game Pass.
