Next week on Far Cry 6, the first DLC of three planned will let you play as Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3, one of the franchise’s most iconic villains. Vaas: Insanity is set to arrive for those who own the season pass which is included in the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game.
Michael Mando (Better Call Saul, Orphan Black) reprises his role as Vaas. The gameplay centers around a roguelike structure where you are armed with only a pistol at the start and must fight to survive and adapt to situations as you grow stronger and delve deeper into Vaas’ psyche. This gives fans a chance to understand Vaas’s past, personal demons and motivations. A window, if you will, into the inner workings of Vaas’ experience.
The roguelite genre is a popular one and Ubisoft is right to dabble into it as it’s quite an interesting concept when combined with a game like Far Cry. Ubisoft even coined the term, “Die and Retry” to describe the gameplay. Far Cry 6 will add more chapters following the Vaas DLC. Far Cry 4’s Pagan Min will star in Pagan: Control and Far Cry 5’s Joseph Seed will star in Joseph: Collapse, possibly with similar roguelike gameplay. Both release next year in January and March respectively.
Aside from the villains mentioned, Far Cry 6 will also receive some free crossover missions featuring appearances from Stranger Things, Rambo and Danny Trejo. Yes, “Machete” himself is actually going to be in the game. There was even a small bit of a mixup where a work-in-progress version of the mission was accidentally added into the game and was subsequently removed for its proper release. Season Pass holders also gain access to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, another one of the best entries into the Far Cry franchise.
Far Cry 6 is available on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
