One of the highlights of last year’s Guerrilla Collective showcase was Endling Extinction is Forever, a survival adventure that until recently, was without a release date. Now thanks to Sony’s State of Play earlier this month, we have one. Endling Extinction is Forever is scheduled to come out on July 19, 2022.
Developed by Herobeat Studios and to be published by HandyGames, Endling is about a mother vixen trying to protect her pups in a world ravaged by humanity’s constant devastation of the planet’s resources and natural fauna. It’s a world where survival is extremely difficult and danger lurks in every corner. As a mother of three pups, you’ll need to explore these blasted lands to hunt other animals to feed your cubs and avoid being prey to both predators and humans.
The game’s beautiful art style lends itself to the gameplay and it looks like folks will have to prepare themselves for some emotionally taxing decisions when it comes choosing how to go about your survival. Throughout your journey, your cubs will need to be fed and taught how to survive for themselves to make them less vulnerable.
The game looks to be a sort of a cautionary tale as to what mass deforestation and poaching can do if humanity continues to harvest every forest in the known land. The survival theme is coated in a beautiful art style that emphasizes the use of colors to distinguish gaming cues to make things easier for the player as well as be aesthetically pleasing to watch.
Endling also appears to play like some of the known side scrollers that use their gameplay as a medium to tell a story without any dialogue. Such games that come to mind are Inside, Limbo and the upcoming Somerville.
Once again, Endling Extinction is Forever is set for release on July 19, 2022 on all major consoles including Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
