Destiny 2 raid had 500,000 players on its first day

Bungie has confirmed that a record-breaking number of players made Day One attempts on the latest raid for Destiny 2. Vow of the Disciple, which launched as part of the content for the Witch Queen era expansion reached more than 500,000 players.

The news comes from Bungie’s Blog “This Week At Bungie”, which also highlighted the first team to successfully complete a blind run of Vow of the Disciple with Clan Elysium successfully taking the win with just three minutes ahead of the competition. In the aftermath of Clan Elysium’s win, the storyline for Witch Queen has been advanced.

“We saw a record number of players attempting their blind runs, diving head-first into the fray without a guide or clear path in sight. To say that those that participated did an incredible job is a massive understatement, but only one team can win. A huge congratulations to Clan Elysium on their well-deserved win, taking the crown three short minutes ahead of the competition.”

The players on the strike team were Saltagreppo, Slap, Kyros, Moople, Quazz and Cruz. These veterans were also the first to clear the revamped Vault of Glass raid back in May last year, making Clan Elysium the first ever back-to-back Destiny 2 raid champions.
