Cyberpunk 2077 adds plenty of stuff in big next gen update

Last updated:

Cyberpunk 2077 finally received its long-awaited next gen update alongside patch 1.5. After fifty gigabytes of download you should be able to play the game with all the relevant enhancements for Xbox Series X|S via the convenience of Smart Delivery. Mere moments before the patch dropped, publisher-developer CD Projekt RED showed off enhanced gameplay via a livestream.

The devs at CD Projekt RED developers said that along with the new patch, you can expect 4k resolution with dynamic scaling, ray tracing, and improvements to visuals as well as the technical end. The team has also included improvements with native achievement support for next-gen consoles with Xbox achievements automatically appearing on the new version using the Smart Delivery feature.

Players can choose from two different graphic modes on Xbox Series X, Performance Mode and Ray-tracing Mode. Xbox Series S has no graphics mode selection and is instead, by default, presented at 30 FPS in 1440p with dynamic resolution scaling. Other performance improvements added by CDPR are reductions to FPS drops and improved rendering quality. HDR has also been balanced to achieve parity across all platforms, made a lot of visual quality improvements and Spanish voiceover support in the Americas. However, due to technical constraints, these updates are only available on next-gen consoles.

More content has been added for all players with the addition of new apartments V can reside in. You can rent out these new places, with a one time fee, when you encounter them throughout Night City or through the EZEstates website you can access through V’s computer at their Megabuilding H10 Apartment room. They become available immediately after completing the “Playing for Time” mission and you can own all of these at the same time. Oh they all share the same Stash so no need to worry about where you dropped off that sweet katana you kept for a while.

Other additions to the game are new cosmetic improvements to V’s look. You can now tweak certain features of your appearance, be it your hair, make-up or piercings, etc. Just check yourself out in the mirror in your apartment or safehouse to make the changes you want free of charge. Great timing too, because new poses have been added to the photo mode and you can rock ’em out with Johnny Silverhand.

Additionally, Wilson’s 2nd Amendment store in Megabuilding H10 along with the other vendors in Night City, have new items in stock. These include two new weapons, four new weapon scopes and new types of weapon attachments. New updates to Perks have rebalanced your character’s progression, so all your Perk points have been reset for free. So if you’ve wanted to try out shooting goons with a Smart Gun instead of punching them like you used to, now’s your chance to do so.

You can also expect NPCs to react better now that they’ve been improved. There should be visible improvements to NPC’s melee and ranged combat AI and reactions, movement upgrades across the board, better traffic movement, gameplay balancing, bug fixes and a whole bunch more. Lastly, next gen console owners can try out Cyberpunk 2077 for free until the 15th of March. The trial will last for 5 hours and once it ends, players can purchase the game while retaining their progress as they continue their adventure into Night City. The trial will include all the updates mentioned above for patch 1.5 so if you were waiting for a time to test out the game, now’s your chance.
