At the Day of the Devs aftershow for Summer Game Fest, developer Gavin Eisenbeisz of Two Star Games presented Choo-Choo Charles. It’s a terrifying looking game that lets players navigate an island while trying to survive a bloodthirsty spider train named Charles.
Yup, it’s like someone saw those Thomas the Tank Engine mods for the Resident Evil 2 remake and decided that had to be an actual game. Except you know, genuinely absolutely terrifying, the stuff of nightmares and also my new mental illness.
Choo-Choo Charles appears to be a true monster, an apex predator, a bad boy. He has more teeth than you can count in the split second it takes for you to decide you need to run in fear, and the spindly legs of a spider. As the Steam page puts it, “Charles is a bloodthirsty train, and you need to destroy him.”
The primary arc of the game sees you complete missions for various inhabitants of the mysterious island where Charles resides, and eventually upgrade your own train into a locomotive worthy of combat as you prepare for the final battle. That’s right a 1v1 fight to the death with Charles is the endgame.
Choo-Choo Charles doesn’t have a definite release date beyond just ‘2022’ but we know that it’s slated for latest gen consoles such as the Xbox Series X.
