Back 4 Blood hits 10 mil players and announces new DLC

Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood is launching its first major DLC. With that news also comes the announced that the co-op zombie shooter and spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead has surpassed 10 million players.

The announcement was made through Business Wire and along with it is details pertaining to the upcoming DLC for Back 4 Blood. “To achieve such a milestone in the short time since the launch of Back 4 Blood is a historic event for our studio and this franchise,” writes Steve Goldstein, president and general manager at Turtle Rock Studios. “As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep the momentum going with our upcoming expansion, Tunnels of Terror, which will offer more cooperative content for fans to continue cleansing the world of the Ridden.”

Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror will bring a new coop activity: Ridden Hives. There will be seven different labyrinthine dungeons you can raid below the depths of Evansburgh that is infested with a new type of zombie called the “Warped Ridden”. Some of these new Warped Ridden include the Urchins, Shredders and Rippers.

Two new Cleaners will be added as well. Sharice is a firefighter that specializes with her Fire Axe, and Heng is a tanky, “tough-as-nails” restaurateur. The DLC also includes 7 legendary weapons, 12 weapon skins, new cards and 8 exclusive skins.

Turtle Rock Studios has been working to fix the difficulty curve ever since the game’s release and is looking to keep adjusting it as more updates come out. When Tunnels of Terror launches on April 12, a new difficulty level will also be added called the “No Hope” difficulty setting which will be free for everyone.

Back 4 Blood DLC

The Tunnels of Terror expansion is available separately or as part of the Ultimate Edition, Deluxe Edition or through the Annual Pass. But if you have at least one buddy in your party with the expansion, then everyone in the group can play through it.

Back 4 Blood is currently available on the Microsoft Store and can be purchased for PC or Xbox consoles. It also launched as a Day One addition to Xbox and PC Game Pass for subscribers.
