Back 4 Blood launched with eight Cleaners and out of the two characters who take support positions, Doc provides healing and first aid. If you want to always be helpful without trying to compete for kills, Doc is a great choice. She has a passive that increases her healing efficiency and her team’s trauma resistance and can apply a field dressing to each teammate once per level.

In Back 4 Blood, the focus on support frees the likes of Doc and Mom from having to choose a particular combat playstyle. Which means if you wanted to, you could really kit Doc out with a sniper rifle but it’s probably better to give her a strong pistol and shotgun to help clear out close range threats. Stick close to allies to quickly apply field dressing, bandages and med kits when needed.

  • Rousing Speech: 225% Revive Speed, Disables: Offensive Accessories, Team Effects: 20% Reduced Incap Trauma.
  • Combat Medic: 50% Use Speed, Heals teammates for an additional 20 Health when you revive them.
  • Amped Up: When you exit a starting safe room, your team gains 50 Temporary Health.
  • EMT Bag: 40% Healing Efficiency, -20% Stamina Efficiency.
  • Antibiotic Ointment: 20% Healing Efficiency.
  • Medical Expert: 15% Healing Efficiency, When you use a Medical Accessory, you gain 15% Move Speed for 15 seconds.
  • Pep Talk: 150% Revive Speed, -5% Damage Resistance.
  • Poultice: When you use a Medical Accessory, the target heals for an additional 20 Health over 30 seconds.
  • Experienced EMT: When you use a Medical Accessory, the target gains 20% Maximum Health until the end of the level.
  • Group Therapy: When you use a Medical Accessory, all teammates heal for 5 Health.
  • Charitable Soul: Healing a teammate also applies 50% of the effect to you.
  • Chemical Courage: Pain Meds you apply also grant 25% damage for 60 seconds.
  • Support Scavenger: You can sense nearby Support Accessories. More Support Accessories spawn.
  • Smelling Salts: 100% Revive Speed.
  • Medical Professional: First Aids and Defibrillators also recover 15 Trauma Damage and 1 Extra Life

In Back 4 Blood, the card at the top of a deck is the first active card that you will get in a run, so it is important to select it carefully. Placing Rousing Speech at the top of the deck means you’re foregoing the ability to use offensive consumables like grenades and molotovs early in exchange for a massive boost to revive speed. Worth it, IMO.

With offensive consumables out of play, you’ll want to focus on pumping up your healing output. Combat Medic makes healing consumables faster and adds 20 more health, while EMT Bag, Antibiotic Ointment and Medical Expert will stack a lot of healing efficiency. You’ll almost double your heal rate.

Charitable Soul is a very powerful card to have in Doc’s deck, as it gives her a 50% chance of gaining health when applying medical aid, which means being a good medic can pay off, especially when your teammates aren’t likely to be able to give you the same healing you give them.
